In January 2023, the Darien Nature Center announced its new Executive Director, Angela Whitford, CFRE. Over her career, Angela has served as a chief operating officer, executive director, team builder and program manager. Her wealth of experience includes more than 20 years in fundraising and 17 years leading non-profit organizations. Angela earned her Certified Fundraising Executive

distinction that requires continuing education, years of professional practice and measured professional performance.

As the former Executive Director of the Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County and a board member at the Connecticut Arts Alliance, Angela has overseen growing memberships and meaningful engagements in both organizations.

“The Darien Nature Center is a valuable resource to our community and I’m grateful for the opportunity to lead this outstanding organization,” said Angela. “I am inspired by the accomplishments of the dedicated staff and board, and I will work enthusiastically to honor and increase their efforts. I look forward to connecting with our constituents, increasing our visibility, and building partnerships with other organizations.”

New York native and long-time Connecticut resident, Angela resides in Stamford. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from CUNY/Lehman College and has completed her diversity and inclusion certificate and executive leadership certificate at Cornell University.
