The Darien Nature Center is pleased to host an exhibition of
mixed media and collages – Rocks, Paper, Scissors -- by
Darien artist Lisa Thoren. The opening reception will be
held on Friday, June 18, 2010 from 6:00 ~ 8:00 p.m.
Inspired by nature’s pallet of colors, the compositions use
a combination of paint and textured layers of handmade
paper, rice paper and terreskin (ground stone without tree
pulp) to create abstract landscapes filled with light,
perspective and emotion.
Lisa Thoren, a lifelong native of Darien, attended Darien
schools and Parsons School of Design. Her works have
received multiple awards over the years, including First
Place in the 2010 Darien Arts Show. She has exhibited her
work throughout Connecticut, including The Carriage Barn,
New Canaan; Sound Water Museum, Stamford; the Rowayton Arts
Center, the Darien and Greenwich Library, Darien Land Trust,
Post 53 EMS and the Darien Nature Center. As a member of
Darien’s Holly Pond Painters, Lisa and her fellow artists
painted wall size murals portraying the different ecosystems
in Cherry Lawn Park.

Nature Center through September 20, 2010. For further
