The Darien Nature Center hosts birthday parties for children 3 years and older. We provide a “party hostess” to work with you to create the party best suited to your child’s age and interests.
What we Offer
We offer Critter Parties, Themed Parties and Home Parties. Birthdays are usually booked on Saturdays and Sundays, but Afterschool and evening parties can also be arranged.
Critter Birthday (recommended for ages 3 and up)
- A live animal show, trail hike and/or craft make a young one’s birthday great fun.
- A craft will be substituted in case of inclement weather.

Critter parties run for 1-1/2 hours. You may come 15 minutes early to set-up the party room. *An assistant fee of $25 in cash is required for parties 13 and over. |
Themed Parties (recommended for ages 7 and up)
Go Fish!
Children will string fishing poles to fish in the pond and photograph their catch.
Tent Party
Children will collect wood, build a fire and erect a tent. Knot tying, trail trekking and cooking hotdogs and s’mores over an open fire is the best!!
Treasure Hunt
Using maps, compasses and clues, children will hunt for hidden treasure. Outdoor games and challenges make for a great outdoor birthday.
Nite Hike
Children will use their senses to navigate the trails. A nocturnal animal presentation and campfire cookout are all part of the fun.
Go Fly A Kite!
Each child will make, decorate and fly his own kite. A kite for the birthday child is signed and decorated by his/her friends. Pray for wind!
Letterboxing Birthday
Explore Cherry Lawn Park armed with clues, compasses and stamps. Find the hidden letterbox and add your name and stamp to the list of explorers who’ve been there before you!

What to Bring for a party at the Darien Nature Center
- Parents provide all food, beverages and paper goods for your party.
- Please bring cash to pay party assistant at the party.
- No alcoholic beverages may be served.
What you Need to Know
- A $50 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve a date.
- If you are paying the balance of your party with a credit card please do so before the party date. Hostess can not accept a credit card.
